"Summer" is here and it is time to spend some time in the presence of the LORD in His creation, the great out doors, beyond the man made walls we often find ourselves confined within.

This poll is to get an idea of what our fellow brother may wish together to do this summer. You may vote twice. This poll may or may not lead to a day or weekend adventure, depending on interest.

Let us know what you think!

Please Note:
The Whitewater Rafting trip would probably be a class 3 river, so that everyone involved could enjoy themselves.

After 30 years in the Army and around the world a couple of times, I am pretty much "camped", "mudded", "tented" out. I have more ground time in sub-zero and high temp, low and high altitude than most. Hikes to me are known as forced marches. While I enjoy the outdoors, I will admit that after a few hours I am ready for my easy chair. Now, if you are looking for a cook-out, picnic, with various sporting events (horse shoes, volleyball, frisbee, etc) then count me in. Cheesy

I'm with bdecsm regarding the level of activity that constitutes a vacation or summer adventure.  What about fishing?  Seems to satisfy all the male urges during the summertime.  Or going to a place no one has been to and just enjoying the scenery and fellowship (like Camp Lawroweld!) If you guys do decide to do the whitewater rafting you will need someone on the shore to takes the video of you getting dumped, and also someone to fish you out as you float downstream!

You guys are all heart!  Remember, it is not the level of intensity of the adventure that is important, but the fact that it is a shared adventure.  That's the power of men's ministry, shared adventure.  Adventure doesn't have to be just fun, I shared adventure in 2004 with Brad that forever tied me to him.  Hurricane Charley came through and he was sitting on his back porch trying to figure out what to do to help.  I came over and said let's quite trying to figure it out and just go and do it.  We loaded a pallet of water on my pickup, tools, etc and went down to help out.  That year we got to do that more than once, but we were drawn closer simply by sharing a common goal and doing it together.

I can't do a Christian life on my own.  I have to have men in my life who mean as much to me as brothers and maybe even closer because I can share anything and everything with them no matter what time of the day or night.  Men who accept me no matter what, encourage me when I down and rejoice with me when life is good.  They don't think less of me when I shed a tear in front of them or have to admit a failure, but encourage me or tell me it is alright to cry.  These men are real men!  The men who post here are real men.  If men I know are real men and who I look to stand with me and me with them, then I too am a real man and all the father wounds seem to vanish when we are accepted for who we are and encouraged to grow from there.

Be purposful about joy.  Be purposful about connecting with at least a few men in your fellowship.  I know God will bless you as you continue to grow with Him in your hearts and lives.

I love it! Excellent response and on the mark. It's not about what we do; it's about a common cause and just doing it. Permit me to be selfish and tell a story. In my later years in the Army, and certainly a bit more aged, I hated to get my gear on and bivouac but it was the awe of the younger soldier that I knew relied on my judgement that I kept going and with a smile. We shared the grit and sand in our food, the almost clear water and lots of talks about families back home. The grunge didn't matter because we were in it together. So if we got together and did nothing but build sand castles on the beach, it would be together. I would also invite those sons, nephews, etc that could come as a way of "tying" the old to the new. As I stated earlier, when we did this in the Army, it is common to see 18-19-20 yr olds with us "seasoned" soldiers and these were the times to instruct and teach, not just military, but values and morales. Have a God filled day and God bless!  Grin

2691 views of Summer Adventure?  I believe that this is because adventure is written on the hearts of men and when they see 'Summer Adventure' they just have to see what it is all about.

We never were able to share the summer adventure together like we had planned in reading back over the posts, but what did you do over the summer?  What adventure did you share with others?  Maybe it was a 'Critical Adventure' you walked in where God had to show up for it to work.

Tell us about it!!!

I rest my case about adventure being written on the hearts of men.  There have now been 4234 viewings of the Summer Adventure Post and since September 9 alone there have been 1543 views of the post.

So what is it about adventure that calls to those of you who are viewing this post?  Are you looking for adventure?  Would men's ministry have more appeal to you if it were proclaimed something like this, "Men's Ministry - Adventures in Walking With God"?
