The world continues in its attempt to weigh men down, keeping them from spending daily time with our Heavenly Father. Many even question how valuable it is to set aside such precious time from their hectic days, devoting it to our God. Others question where or how to begin, the father of lies leads them astray in tricking them with the belief that God is not there by their side. This lie is often swallowed under the very words of Christ “I will never leave or forsake thee.” Hebrew 13:5
Do not allow yourself to fall into these traps. Christ Himself taught the importance of being fed daily by the bread of God, the Word of God. “Give us day by day our daily bread.” Luke 11:3
He also provided warning for those who fill their life with works, even righteous works, and not taking time to just to be in His presence. What was Jesus reply when Martha confronted Him about Mary’s lack of service? His words were “Martha, Martha, thou art careful and troubled about many things; But one thing is needful: and Mary hath chosen that good part, which shall not be taken away.” Luke 10:41-42 (KJV)
“…But one thing is needful…” While it is true that God has called us to serve Him with all of our hearts, minds, and souls… He clearly states that service is not what is “needed”. We must ensure to spend time with Him, not just time serving Him. “I can do all things through Christ who strengthen us.” (NKJV) To do things through Christ, to serve Him and receive His strength, you must first dwell in His presence.
And yes, devotion to God reaches beyond spending time worshipping Him, listening to Him through His word or in prayer. We can offer our devotion to God through our possessions and our bodies also, which will be explored here.
We pray that the words of wisdom offered here will help guide you on a
blessed journey of living a devotion filled life, not just one found on
Sabbath. (Continue..>>)
