What does it mean to live a life of devotion? In its simplest form, devotion is one’s reflection of love and dedicated to something or someone, or in this case, our Creator. The Lord has called us to love Him with all our hearts, all our minds, and all our souls. (Matthew 22:37)
Are you living a dedicated life to the Lord? Are you ready to accept the strength, wisdom, and understanding He has prepared for you? Or are you allowing the busyness of life to overshadow the time you should be resting with our Lord? Is the never fulfilled task list of life building as a road block between you and the Almighty?
Living a devotion filled life can seem overwhelming for those who have not done so before. As we spoke about in The Importance of Devotion Filled Life, there are many “powers” working towards keeping us from spending time daily with our Savior. It is for us to decide to take back the time the world has consumed, giving it back to our Lord.
The first step is taking that first step; start by setting aside a few minutes each day to spend in His word. We encourage you start with no less than five or ten minutes (ten preferred), and slowly work your way up, allowing the Holy Spirit to lead you. Many say 30 minutes in God’s word and another 30 minutes in prayer is a good target to aim for, however everyone is different and you find yourself taking more or less time. Find a quiet place and time to spend with the Lord, and make a commitment to the Him by scheduling a time each day.
The only way you will be a truly successful father, husband, or leader
is through Christ and with Christ. (Continue..>>)
