Men's Biblical Roles
"And the LORD God took the man, and put him into the garden of Eden to dress it and to keep it." Genesis 2:15

Importance of Men in God's Plan

God has clearly laid out His purpose and role for us men. He provides wisdom (James 1:5), encouragement, and strength (Philippians 4:13) for those men who are ready to answer His call.

Answering His call is not solely the act of ministering the word or serving in the church. Perhaps it would do well to remind all men that answering His call includes caring for the family He has blessed us with, completing secular work with a cheer full heart and as we are doing it for God Himself (Colossians 3:17), and living a Christian life reflecting the Light of Christ to all those we come in contact with.

Throughout Scripture we see the importance God has placed on the role we play within His plan. It was Adam who He intended to care for the garden; it was Noah who God chose to build the Ark. It was through the men born of Abraham in which God’s covenant was carried. The leaders of the twelve tribes of Israel were men. It was a man, Joseph, God used to carry not only His people but also the Egyptians through the seven years of famine. Moses led God’s people out of bondage. Most prophets were male, as were most judges. When the Israelites asked for a king, it was men that fulfilled the line of ruling “power”. Christ’s twelve apostles were even men. The list could continue on. Even God labels Himself with the masculine adjective (in most cases that is).

Disclaimer: Although it is clear that as men, we are blessed with a history of service and leadership for the Lord. This does not discount the role women play; we are however focusing on your role, Men’s Biblical Role. And just as God’s plan once focused on utilizing the Jews to complete His work, and had to bring “plan B” into action, the same goes for His plan for men. If we do not live up to His calling as ambassadors (2 Corinthians 5:20), do not doubt that He will make His calling to the women to fill the role in which He designed for us to perform.

We must prayerfully consider not only what the Lord has intended for us men as a whole, but what He has set in the path of each of us. What is His calling for your life and work? Perhaps He is closing one door and opening another this very moment. We pray that the resources found here will help guide you on the journey of fully realizing what “role” God is empowering you fulfill. If you are unsure of what His calling for you may be, we encourage you to find another man to enter into prayer with, asking our Heavenly Father for guidance.
