My Dear Brethren in Christ,

As we enter into the year 2008, we are eager to find out all that God has in store for us in the New Year. But if we are honest, we probably feel some anxiety when we remember some of our yesterdays. Satan would like to see our present enjoyment of God’s love, mercy and grace, be lessened (diminished) by the memory of yesterday's sins and blunders. But the God we serve only uses these memories to do a work of spiritual revival and growth in us. He reminds us of our past to keep us from a dangerous shallow security in our present.

"...the Lord will go before you..." into our tomorrows to keep us from being caught up in the same traps we fell into the past. His mercy and grace have settled all the claims against our conscience which we've surrendered to Him!

"You shall not go out with haste..." As we enter into the New Year, let us not be in haste, but let us go forward with the assurance that the Almighty God goes before us. It is true that our yesterdays hold broken and painful irreversible experiences. But God can channel all our anxieties, insecurities and sorrows into a fruitful, honest and spirit filled ministry that he is calling us to share with other men whose lives we touch. May the past rest in the sweet embrace of our Savior, Jesus Christ.
